Mane appeal failed
Sadio Mane appeal for his red card has been rejected by the Football Association (FA), and the player would miss three games.
The Liverpool forward was sent off in the match against Manchester City after he kicked Ederson in the face.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said that he is not disappointed as he was sure that the appeal would be rejected by the FA and for him, it was just a waste of time.
Liverpool said that the foul was not intentional and that there was no malice in the way Mane kicked the keeper. However, the FA rejected the appeal and said that the ban has been reviewed by an independent committee and that the player will have to miss three games in total.
Jurgen Klopp said that although it is a disappointment to have a player such as Mane ban they will have to deal with it. He believes that there is enough quality in the team to help them during this period and that they should be able to win games.
The absence of Sadio Mane can be an opportunity for Oxlade Chamberlain to get a run in the team and to prove what he can do in the winger role. Since his move to Liverpool, the former Gunners has not had a lot of playing time, and he will be keen to seize the opportunity to capture the attention of the Liverpool manager.
Jurgen Klopp said that Sadio Mane is a fantastic player for Liverpool, but there is nothing they can do. He has also stated that Phillipe Coutinho might be back in the first team soon. He said that he has been impressed by the player’s dedication and concentration and that there is no reason why he should not feature in the first team if he is fit.
