STRIKER SEARCH
The manager of Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers, has said that he will be looking for some strikers during the upcoming pre season transfer window.
Liverpool’s performance in the ongoing season has been quite decent. The Reds have won 14 out of the 36 matches that they have played in the competition so far. They have been defeated in 9 matches and have shared points in 13. They are currently at no. 7 with 55 points.
In their last match against Everton, the Reds played a goalless draw. That was their 4th draw in the last 5 matches.
Talking to the reporters after the match against Everton, Rodgers said, “We haven’t scored as many goals as we would have liked to in the ongoing season and that’s because our strikers haven’t been at their very best.”
“The match against Everton was our 15th clean sheet in the Premier League this season which suggests that we are doing alright defensively. But, being consistent only in defence is not the way to go. We will have to be consistent both back and upfront.”
“In the transfer market, we will have to look for a couple of players who can solve our striking problems. We have played too many draws in this season and that’s not ideal. From draws, you only get one point. You need to win matches if you want to be in top 4.”
However, Rodgers praised his defenders a lot in that press conference especially Jamie Carragher. The Liverpool manager said, “All the defenders have performed up to the mark in this season, but, Jamie has been the stand out player for us. He has had such a huge influence on this team. He has been fantastic everywhere, in matches, in training sessions, in changing rooms.”
