The Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has said that there is no rift between him and the owners of the club as reported by the media. according to a Liverpool fanzine.

It has been reported in the last few days that the Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is extremely furious with the Liverpool owners after they decide to let the striker Andy Carroll leave on a season long loan deal. However, the club did not secure a replacement for the former Newcastle United striker. They were in advanced negotiations with Fulham over the purchase of the 29-year-old Clint Dempsey, but they were not able to agree a fee with the London club for the American International.

In the end, Clinton Dempsey has left for Tottenham in a £ 5 million deal. This has left Liverpool with only two strikers in the form of Luis Suarez and Fabio Borini for the next six months. This has not pleased that the manager Brendan Rodgers, who has openly said that he would not have let Andy Carroll leave the club if he knew that there will not be a replacement arriving. However, he has said that the rumours of a rift between him and the owners are extremely wide of the mark.

“I’ve had long conversations with the owners. I’ve got to say they have been very honest and very up front right from the off. I came here first and foremost because of the owners. I felt a genuine honesty in their approach to it and in how they wanted to go forward with the football club. Of course the window didn’t quite go to plan but going forward a great deal of learning has taken place. Every manager always wants more players,” said Brendan Rodgers about the transfer policy of the club in the deadline day of this transfer window.

The new Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has said that it might be a while before Liverpool start challenging for the title. The new era for Liverpool under the former Swansea manager began with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of West Brom during the weekend.

Even though Liverpool played well throughout the match, it was the same case as last season after Liverpool failed to take a lot of chances. West Brom then stuck a major blow in the hopes of Liverpool getting three points on the opening day of the season. The star striker Luis Suarez was especially guilty of missing a lot of chances in the match.

Speaking after the match, the manager tried to avoid the disappointing result by saying that he expects a lot of improvement in the future. Even before the start of the new season, Brendan Rodgers has constantly advocated the fact that it will be a long time before Liverpool start challenging for the major honours. It has been three seasons since Liverpool were last seen in the Champions League. Without the additional £ 30 million revenue, they have not been able to compete with the best clubs in the division.

“You have to play them, that’s the nature of football. You have to win games. We’re bitterly disappointed now, of course, but we’ll use that as a lever to move on and learn from it. I’ve always said we need to bring in one or two but [we have] to work with the players that are here. I know what my limitations are in terms of budget,” said Brendan Rodgers after the match. Liverpool will be facing the likes of Manchester city and Arsenal in the next two matches, which makes it a tough few weeks for the new Liverpool manager.

GERRARD ONE OF THE BEST

Liverpool legend Terry McDermott has said that the performances displayed by the Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard at the Euro 2012 shows that his status as one of the best players in the world has now been confirmed. The 32-year-old has been regarded as one of the best players for England over the last decade.

However, he has been unable to show for the same in terms of the number of trophies. Even though he has won the Champions League title with Liverpool in the past, he is yet to win a major title with the England national team and is also looking forward to his first Premier league title.

However, he has been at his inspirational best at Euro 2012. He has been made the captain of the national team by manager Roy Hodgson, and he has led by example. Even though Gerrard is known for his attacking displays, England manager Roy Hodgson has been using him as a defensive midfielder especially in the absence of Frank Lampard and Gareth Barry. He has excelled in his role according to Liverpool legend Terry McDermott, who has also said that a lot of credit should go to Steven Gerrard if England win the Euro 2012.

“He’s been absolutely phenomenal” he told Liverpool news. “For ten years or more, he has been the catalyst for everything at Liverpool, and it is the same with England at the moment. He has been fantastic. We all know what a sensational player he is, and how influential he has been for club and country. His performances over the last couple of weeks have simply reiterated that. The scary thing is, I don’t think he has even hit top form yet! If he is playing his B-game at the moment, then how good will he be when he hits his A-game? ,” he said.

Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan has said that Liverpool have been given the permission to speak with his manager Roberto Martinez. Liverpool recently sacked Kenny Dalglish from his post after a very poor season in the league.

Even though the club enjoyed Carling cup success, which was the first major trophy after six years, it is thought that the new owners of Liverpool have been extremely disappointed that they have once again failed to qualify for the Champions League.

Liverpool have been out of the Premier European competition for three seasons now, which has severely impacted their finances. Roberto Martinez has emerged as one of the potential contenders for the job alongside former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas.

It is also thought that Liverpool have also looked at the possibility of bringing former Barcelona manager Guardiola, who will step down from his post after a few weeks. Dave Whelan has said that he has always been supportive of Roberto Martinez. He even gave the manager the permission to speak with Aston Villa last summer, but Martinez turned down the opportunity. However, now it is thought that he would finally bring his three-year spell with Wigan to an end by moving to a bigger club, but it remains to be seen if it is Liverpool or not.

“I was with Roberto when they phoned. I have always said when a big club comes I will give permission and they don’t come any bigger than Liverpool. I gave them permission and he will be talking to Liverpool soon,” said Dave Whelan in his interview given to Sky Sports. Former England manager Fabio Capello has also said that he would be interested in taking the job. The former England manager is out of work after resigning from his post back in March.

Fernando Torres has been warned he could yet need surgery on his right knee, despite a positive initial examination by his surgeon.

Dr Ramon Cugat raised hopes that ‘in normal circumstances’ the Spain striker could return to action when Liverpool face West Ham on Monday.

However, if swelling does not subside after five days of rest, the 26-year-old faces a further operation.

Spanish FA sporting director Fernando Hierro is in daily contact with Torres and has been told that it is not yet clear what is causing the ‘bursitis’, which has led to liquid building up on the knee.

Bursitis limits movement and causes pain. If, as expected, it was the result of a blow, the swelling should subside rather quickly. But if it is a result of surgery that Torres underwent in January, he is likely to go under the knife again.

Liverpool Crash Out

Rafael Benítez has been assured that his immediate future as Liverpool manager is secure after the Merseyside club were dumped out of the Champions League at the group stage last night.

Christian Purslow, the club’s managing director, who was sat in Liverpool Hospitality, gave the Spaniard his full backing even though Liverpool failed to reach the last 16 of the Champions League for the first time in Benítez’s 5½-year reign.

A 1-0 win over Debrecen in Budapest was not enough to secure progress for Liverpool, who needed Fiorentina to drop points at home to Lyons to stand a chance of advancing.

Fiorentina came up with a 1-0 win of their own — courtesy of Juan Vargas’s first-half penalty — to end Liverpool’s hopes and heap more pressure on Benítez after a terrible first four months of the season, in which their chances of winning the Barclays Premier League slipped away and now their Champions League dreams have been shattered.
